How do you know if your organisation is well-run?

Our many years of practical experience and research have told us that being well-run is a vital factor in ensuring your organisation delivers impact.

In order to help not-for-profit organisations and social enterprises assess their own performance, we have developed a process which identifies how well-run you are.

We provide you with a short-form report identifying the elements of your business that need the most attention in order to better run.

Find out more about the review here.

What makes a not-for-profit 'well-run'?

We recently conducted a survey to start a discussion around the question, "What makes a not-for-profit well-run?" The objective of the research was to clarify how the sector defines and measures whether or not a not-for-profit organisation is 'well-run'. The survey indicated that the two most important elements in being well-run are:

1. Being crystal clear on your purpose, vision and direction

2. Having great people, with a particular focus on great leadership.

By reflecting on the issues raised in the survey we hope that ultimately as a sector we all move towards being better run.

Good360 provide an online tool which allows charities to access goods donated by businesses at a fraction of their cost - the charity only pays the shipping & handling costs of transporting the goods to their preferred location. This saves charities huge amounts of money in their running costs, is great for companies to ensure obsolete or unused stock does some good, and serves the environment by making sure goods don't end up in landfill. What's not to love?

The Australian Sports Foundation (ASF) works with sporting clubs and organisations of all sizes, across the country to raise money for Australian sport. The ASF Board had a vision to grow and reshape the ASF into the leading organisation for sports based philanthropy in Australia - it needed a transformation.

The team was sensational, every dollar we spent with them was of great use to the ASF.  The Good Foundations team have a real wealth of insight and experience in the NFP environment. I would not hesitate to suggest to any NFP organisation to talk to Good Foundations, I will certainly use them again, what they did for us was fantastic.”

The Refugee Advice and Casework Service (RACS) organisation was established in 1987 thanks to funding from the UNHCR, to meet the increasing demand for legal assistance to people seeking asylum in Australia. RACS operates as an independent community legal centre, to provide free and specialist legal services for asylum seekers and refugees.

We were engaged by RACS to review their finance function, and to recommend appropriate changes.
